Snow, cold weather, and road conditions in the St. Louis area
The City of St. Louis still has lots of side streets that have not been plowed or cleaned
We had a weather event; mainly snow started on Saturday, January 4th, and ended early morning of Monday, January 6th. That ended up with roughly 7 to 8 inches of snow accumulation, and the temperature was below zero until a couple of days ago. That created quite a bit of a challenge for the road and the road cleaning crew. And here are some of my observations.
Jan 9, Thursday: I happened to drive around the city of St. Louis this morning, due to my Uber driving. Most side streets are not plowed. The seven streets that are plowed: Page, Grand, Lindell, Vandeventer, Sarah, Clayton and Kings highway.
Jan 10, Friday: I learned something new from the current #snowmageddon . Olive Blvd is maintained by the MoDOT - St. Louis (which is a part of state government). N Warson road is maintained by the #StLouisCounty, as I saw their snowplow in action a few hours ago outside of my neighborhood. Many smaller or side streets are maintained by the City of Olivette, MO - Government. Yesterday morning I happened to drive around the City of St. Louis Government, as I was driving for Uber for a little. Most side streets were not plowed. The seven streets that were plowed: Page, Grand, Lindell, Vandeventer, Sarah, Clayton and Kings highway. Btw, it seems the Olive Road is drivable right now, but in a few spots, there are some snows on one of the two lanes, so basically, we need to slow down, or switch lanes to make sure. Also, because of the snow, the middle lane to make turn usually has some snow, in 2 days I overshot at the Olivette Post Office - had to go into residential neighborhood to turn around. My lesson here is making sure I have enough time/room to make a left turn.
Jan 16, Thursday, I drove a bit side street in the City of St. Louis Government this morning again, due to my Uber driving. It's like an ice rink.
I was talking to a friend back in China, Re: the snow condition.
